If you’re looking for views, adventure and relaxation all in one place look no further. Queenstown is where you need to be and you’ll feel like royalty when you get there. It all starts when you get off outside at the airport as if you just stepped off your own private jet.
By the time you get off the flight you’re probably hungry so the first spot to hit up is Fergburger. Did you even go to Queenstown if you didn’t wait in line for a burger? It’s even Ed Sheeran’s fave! Try the classic Fergburger consisting of Prime N.Z. beef, lettuce, tomato, red onion, aioli and tomato relish – you can add cheese for $1. The beef patty is large and very filling. Order the fries to share. Note: There may not be enough space for you to sit and eat as the place is usually busy so you may have to take it away.
Onsen Hot Pools
Going to Queenstown means you have to get some pics for the ‘gram. There’s no better place to get the perfect combination of relaxation and views for the ‘gram than at Onsen. You can choose packages such as hot pools only, hot pools and treats or hot pools and massage. Make sure to book in advance.
Head to the Minus 5 Degree Ice Bar to cool down. The team will provide you with jacket and gloves to keep you cosy while you’re in the bar. Everything inside consists of over 18 tonnes of crystal clear ice architecture. Drink some cocktails, mocktails or shots while you enjoy the sculptures. Note: The bar is smaller inside than you may expect.
If you’re in the mood for something warm or sweet Patagonia is the place for you. Warm up with their hot chocolate – everything from the marshmallow to the chocolate in the drink makes you feel like you’re melting on a cloud. Grab some chocolates to go as well.
If cookies, ice cream and shakes are more your thing you don’t want to miss the Cookie Time Cookie Bar. Try the s’more shake double chocolate, nutella shake or Cookie Time rainbow shake if you’re feeling freaky. While you’re at it why not get an ice cream sandwich too? Best of both worlds.
After all that eating, take a walk to the lake. The mountain views are spectacular and not to be missed. You’ll want to get your camera out for this one. The city is serving looks 24/7.
For more views, the Skyline is where you need to be. You can take the Gondola ride from the Skyline terminal. You’ll get 220 degree views of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Walter and Cecil Peak. Activities at the top include the luge, mountain biking and dining.
