Melbourne is one of those cities where you can find an endless amount of things to do, places to eat and bars to party at. So to make it easier to plan your next trip, here’s the ultimate guide of things to do in Melbourne.
There are so many places you can brunch at, but one of our favourites was Cargo Bar at the Docklands. It’s right by the water and the food was incredible (and not too expensive either).
For the day drinkers
The Imperial Hotel on Bourke St has an insane Harry Potter themed rooftop bar that’s a must-do for every Harry Potter nerd.
Peaches is another rooftop bar that has the prettiest pink decor you’ll ever lay your eyes across and fruity cocktails to match! It gets really packed at night, so you’re better off going for a day drinking sesh (and this way, you can turn this into a photo opportunity too).
For the ‘gram
Did you even go to Melbourne, if you didn’t visit Hosier Lane? This graffiti art laneway is quintessentially Melbourne and you’re guaranteed good pics for the gram. Someone also got the candy paint out for Post Malone because he makes an appearance as a massive mural! Be sure to check out AC / DC Lane and Centre Place nearby for some more lowkey graffiti art as well.
If you’re keen to hit the sand and the surf, then make your way down to the Brighton Bathing Boxes. Brighton Beach definitely wins the award for the most instagrammable beach in Australia! Look at those cute colourful beach huts that line the sand – there’s definitely one you can find to match with your outfit.
For the culture
For some more artsy adventures, make your way to the National Gallery of Victoria. It’s Australia’s oldest public art museum and general entry is free! The Melbourne Museum, at the incredible Carlton Gardens is also a popular hotspot. Fun fact: it’s the largest museum in the Southern Hemisphere and there’s always some cool exhibitions happening, so if you need some fun indoor adventures to get away from the cold and rain, this is your best bet.
For retail therapy $$$
If you’re into your streetwear, you NEED to check out Culture Kings at Hosier Lane – you’ll want to buy the whole store out! Inside, you’ll find a live DJ, a snapback wall and sneakers galore. You can also hit up Bourke St Mall which has the coolest looking H&M ever and don’t forget the Melbourne markets – Queen Victoria and South Melbourne are some central ones to check out.
Brunswick Street in Fitzroy is full of boutique stores, cute coffee shops and unique bars that are perfect for exploring! A great place to go for happy hour is rooftop bar, Naked For Satan. You’ll get insane views of the CBD and they have so many infused flavours of vodka, it’s insane.
Fitzroy also has your clubbing plans sorted for the evening. Make your way to Laundry Bar for your hip hop and rnb needs and you’re guaranteed to have a good time (we went two nights in a row).
So there you have it, you’ve got the perfect itinerary for your next trip and Melbourne has so much to offer, I’m sure you’ll be back sooner rather than later!
